Chapter 6 – Expectancy vs. Expectation
In Chapter 6, I delve into the profound difference between expectancy and expectation. Expectancy is a hopeful anticipation, akin to standing by the ocean's edge, awaiting the unpredictable waves. It embodies a trust in life and in our Father's intentions for us. Expectation, however, is more rigid, like trying to predict each wave's exact moment of crash. This mindset often leads to disappointment, especially when our interpretations don't align with God's intentions. I've observed, through personal experiences and those of friends, that anchoring ourselves in specific outcomes can set us up for heartache. It's essential to approach life with an attitude of expectancy, embracing whatever comes our way with trust in the divine plan. This open-hearted approach has been a cornerstone of my spiritual journey, and I've distilled three guiding principles from it: holding beliefs lightly, maintaining a close relationship with God, and embracing oneness. By internalizing these principles, we can navigate life's ebb and flow with grace, resilience, and an ever-deepening understanding of God's love and purpose.
